Rising costs of Education

Rising costs of Education by Mar Vincent Cordovez

Lately, it feels like chasing a degree is like chasing the wind. The cost of education keeps rising faster than any paycheck or burst of ambition and the resources to help students keep being less funded. Sometimes, walking into the education center feels more like bracing for disappointment than finding support. I have seen the stress on my friends' faces, watched them pause their dreams, take fewer courses, or pile on loans just to stay in the game. And honestly? That hits hard.

That’s why I count my blessings being in the Air Force. Tuition Assistance is not just a benefit it is a lifeline. It allows me to stay enrolled, push toward my academic and career goals, and only worry about the small stuff like proctoring fees or textbooks. I am not drowning in debt. I am not choosing between groceries and tuition. That support makes all the difference, not just financially but mentally. It tells me I am worth investing in. That my growth matters.

Picture is pulled from the Air Force Education Center. Some areas are grayed out for privacy concerns.

Education should not feel out of reach or reserved for the privileged few and while I cannot change the system by myself, I am proud to wear a uniform that backs me in my pursuit of something bigger. Service gave me strength and now it is giving me education.
